How safe is the fremont area to live versus surrounding areas?

I might be relocating for work to a job in palo alto and am looking at surrounding cities which are reasonably priced like maybe mountain view, fremont and such?

    Fremont is pretty safe, probably similarly safe to mt. view. I wouldn’t worry at all about living there from a safety standpoint.

  2. I live in San Jose CA. If you plan on working in the Palo Alto CA. area you DO NOT WANT TO LIVE IN THE FREMONT AREA.Way…. to long of a commute.

    Mountain View is closer and nice .

    I agree with Kat. If they are equal prices, Mountain View would be a better place to live than Fremont, simply because it is much closer to your job.

    Both cities have some crime. We live in Fremont at an apartment on a busy street and have had our car broken into twice. Other than that, there is quite a bit of gang related crime in any city in the area. But as long as you aren’t in a gang, it isn’t going to affect you.

    Fremont is a great place to live. I’ve lived there twice in the past. It’s very spread out. I can’t recall seeing any slummy kind of neighborhoods.

    I work in Mountain View, it’s also quite nice, but I don’t know if I’d call it “reasonably priced.”

    Sunnyvale and Santa Clara are fine. In fact, most cities on the peninsula surrounding Palo Alto are fine, except East Palo Alto.
