How far is Fremont Street from the Las Vegas strip?

What is the best way to get from Fremont Street to the strip? Walk, taxi, bus? I’m staying on Fremont Street and need to fugure out the best way to get back and forth. Is it far?

Too far to walk and it is….less than desirable….to walk through the between area anyway.
You can take a bus pretty cheaply.
Taxi is the way I always do it.
the monorail goes part of the way, but then you need a bus
you will notice a difference in the type of patrons on the Strip vs Fremont
The fastest is taxi but it would be about $20-25 each way, OUCH !
Next is the Deuce (city bus). A 24 hour pass is currently $5. You purchase this as you board the bus. It is good for any of the CAT bus system in the LV area. There is an increase scheduled for 2009.
Effective Jan. 11, 2009, fares on Deuce on the Strip shall be adjusted as follows:
Single Ride Fare: $3.00 (now $2.00)
Full-Fare Day Pass: $7.00 (now $5.00)
Three-Day Full Fare All Access Pass: $20.00 (new) (now none)
Up-Charge with Regular Day Pass: $1.00 (now $.50)
Reduced Fare Cash Single Ride: $1.50 (now $1.00)
Three-Day Reduced Fare All Access Pass: $10.00 (new) (now none)
Avoid using the Deuce at peak travel times.
It can take an hour from mid strip to Fremont.
Monorail – $12 for a 24 hour pass but the monrail does not run 24/7. The North end starts at Sahara and goes south to MGM. There are a total of 7 places for the monorail stops.
MGM
Paris/Ballys
Flamingo
Imperial Palace/Harrah’s
Las Vegas Convention Center
Hilton
Sahara
Keep in mind that the stops for the casinos on the strip are located near the back of the property.
The best and cheapest way is to take the Deuce from Vegas strip to downtown. The last stop is the bus terminal close to Fremont Street.
Too far to walk. Buses run quite frequently though. Cost is about $3 or maybe $4 if they’ve hiked the fares up since gas started costing $4 a gallon. You can get an all-day pass for $2.50.
Take The Deuce!!! The two-decker buses are $5 for a 24-hour unlimited riding pass, and they are clean and safe at any hour they run. I often stay at either a hotel downtown or on the strip, and ALWAYS take The Deuce at least one day during each trip. It’s a fairly quick ride, there are almost always seats available (as opposed to having to stand) and they plainly announce stops. Painless, painless, painless.
If I have to be somewhere at a certain time (for example, staying at the Golden Nugget and needing to get to Mandalay Bay on the strip for a concert) then I usually bite the bullet and take a taxi. Even taxi fares are pretty reasonable in Vegas.
It’s really too far to walk, although I have done it in the past.
Take the deuce.
It’s way too far to walk. You can get an all day bus pass for $5. We did that for each day. It was nice.
