Fremont County, named after Capt. John Fremont, is located in south-central Colorado. It
spans the Arkansas River Valley between the Front Range (Pikes Peak
region), the Wet Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Range. The county
population is somewhere over 46,000. The median age in the county is 39
and the median household income is approximately $34,000. One never need leave Fremont County to enjoy first class dining, entertainment, activities, and shopping. Because of its particularly mild climate
and light winter snowfall, Fremont County is sometimes referred to as
the "Banana Belt" of Colorado. The sun shines 325 days a year here, the

The communities comprising Fremont County include Cañon City (the county seat), Florence and Penrose as well as the smaller communities of Brookside, Coal Creek, Lincoln Park, Rockvale and Williamsburg. and Silver Cliff located in the Wet Mountain Valley with the most
spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo Range. Travel east to Pueblo
with its wonderful reservoir providing opportunity for all kinds of
water sports, or just go shopping, or visit the river walk in the
historic Union Avenue district, or take the kids to the nature center
where they can witness all kinds of wild birds. Travel north to
Colorado Springs—home to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Ft. Carson,
